The Forest Park location hosts artists from around the region and around the country to display their works. Each artist is given a month to display their painting, sculpture or other media thorughout the shop. We welcome the well known and encourage the not-yet well known to showcase at Coffee & Crema. Email us at “submissions” at “coffeeandcrema.com” for more information.
Current Exhibition: Standing Collection
This is the artwork donated by artists from previous showings. Come by and see what has come before and, if you are an artist yourself, see about adding to the collection!
You can see the standing collection through the month of July.
Music has been the blood of community since humans uttered their first groan to the setting sun or rising moon and we honor that tradition here. Check here for more information about open-mic nights or special performances. If you’d like to perform here feel free to contact us at “submissions” at “coffeeandcrema.com” for more information.
Odd Cup Out
What is Odd Cup Out?
The Odd Cup Out is really simple. All we do is set out five rows of coffee, three cups to a row. Two of the coffees in each row will be the same and one will be different. All you have to do is pick the odd cup out. Each row will have different coffees but the idea will be the same. Just find the one that doesn’t belong.
Don’t tell us where each coffee comes from.
Please don’t tell us what flavors you are tasting.
All you have to do is pick the cup that doesn’t belong. Get the most correct and you win. In the event that multiple people get the same score, then the prize goes to the fastest time among those top scores.
No judges, no frothing pitchers, no steam wands. It’s just you and your tongue against the world.
The last Thursday of the month, like the Latte Art Hoedowns used to be.
Who can compete?
Everyone can and should compete: baristas, foodies, coffee drinkers, iron mongers. Everyone.
What’s the cost?
To watch is free.
To compete is five dollars.
When is it again?
6 p.m. so don’t be late.
if you have any questions email “info” at “coffeeandcrema.com.”
Latte Art Hoedown
The last Thursday of December we will host year-end latte art competition. The purpose of this particular hoedown is to bring the local coffee community together and say goodbye to 2012 at the same time. Anyone is welcome to compete, so long as they have at least some experience with a commercial espresso machine.
To the winner goes prizes and a pot of gold!
Be at the Forest Park Coffee & Crema by 6:00 PM.
Pay $5.00 to enter yourself into a competition bracket.
When your turn comes, pour the best art you can manage.
Your competitor pours the best art he can manage.
Judges quickly decide a winner, who goes on to the next bracket.
In the next round, cups get smaller and, if you make it to the next round, smaller still. If we go through all the sizes but have more competitors, we’ll start the cup sizes over.
In the final round the last two baristas face off. One walks away with hoedown fame and glory.
And everyone walks away hopefully having made a friend or two.
Don’t worry about pulling shots, finding an appropriate cup or polishing up your veteran frothing pitcher because all that will be provided for you. Don’t bring milk or espresso either. All you need to do is show up, froth and pour. You get one pitcher and one go at frothing. We’ll pull you the shots and put them into a cup for you. That should make things go fast and keep things fun.
Other activities will be scheduled throughout the month. Just check the Calendar page for what’s going on. If you have a group or event you’d like to host at the Forest Park or Haywood Mall shops, just mail us at “info” at “coffeeandcrema.com” and let us know.
